Hello, and thanks for checking out AdvanceEdit.
My name’s Tracey Dabell, and I have worked in publishing since the late eighties.
I have experience in all areas of the publishing process, and managed a small press for a number of years. My editing experience includes ten years’ in-house work on legal and medical textbooks and academic journals.
It is editing that first attracted me to the industry and editing that I most enjoy. That’s why today I’m a freelance editor and not on a payroll pursuing that managerial career.
Everyone has different interests and talents, of course. You might be a brilliant historian, a natural philosopher, or about to give us a new paradigm of the human mind. For me, it’s the sitting quietly and working with words: working and reworking them so that they exactly capture the intention of the writer and communicate all the subtle nuances of his argument – and do so in a clear but also pleasing, rhythmic way.
So why not let me worry about your commas and subheadings while you get on with what interests you and what will take your career forward?
Put simply: it’ll be a pleasure.
